1. Jon Peter Zenger was a half german half american publisher, editor, journalist, and printer in New York city. He took part in a very important legal case, and laid out the foundations for freedom of the press.
2. The controversy of Zengers charges were that people tought his claims were false even if they were true. During the Zenger trial Hamilton tried to point out that if a statement is true, it i true and nothing can be done to make it different.
3. The influence on the American governmental tradition was that lawyers could now say what they wanted as long as it was true. Judges also were able to view cases in a different. It created a great balance in the judicial systems
4. The lasting influence of The Zenger case or trial is that it had a big influence on law suits and cases in general. Mainly it was the huge advancements made in freedom of the press. Because of the Zenger trials news papers and other ways of criticizing people or things could be said without going to court as long as what they were stating was true.
